Because of our experience of surviving breast cancer, we have chosen “early detection saves lives and increases treatment options” as the main campaign of our group. Alongside that, our group’s mission is to present facts, dispel myths and provide information on healthcare providers for breast cancer patients in the community, thus educating the public on breast cancer.
With the highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia and the lack of financial resources for many marginalized patients, there is a need to allocate funds for breast cancer screening, surgery and other treatment options to increase the survival rate of early stage breast cancer patients on the grassroots level. Thus, as stakeholders of this cause, THRIVE’s second aim is to work as a link between agencies and companies that are willing to join in the advocacy of funding breast cancer treatment and the marginalized early stage breast cancer patients who will benefit from the financial and medical assistance.
Concurrently, it is the goal of our group to lobby for a local or multinational institution and/or a government agency to permanently set up Icanserve’s Ating Dibdibin program (which permanently puts breast cancer care in the city health offices) in Cagayan de Oro City and its neighboring cities and municipalities.
